The medical practice in Burham has been in existence since 1973 and on the present site in the purpose-built Phoenix Surgery since 1982.  Throughout this time the list size has grown steadily from around 1200 patients to its current size of almost 3000.  This increase led to the surgery undergoing a major extension in 1986.  The services provided include general medical services, maternity services, contraception, child health and minor surgery.  Because of our rural setting we dispense to over 95% of our patients and hence the Dispensary forms an important part of the practice.

The practice has two GPs: Dr Trudy Fitzwater who holds surgeries on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings, and Dr Nicholas Pile who holds surgeries on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings and afternoons.

The surgery also has a practice nurse, Beverly Drake, and Baby Clinics are held every 1st and 3rd Tuesday in the month.  Minor ops are also carried out on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday in the month.
